The week ahead … TV guide recommendations – 17 November

Welcome to my new television viewing blog which I will post on a Friday evening for the week ahead. I hope to highlight and recommend programs for you to look out for.  I would love to hear from you, if there is any particular genre you would like me to cover or spend more time on, please get in touch through our website and I will focus on your feedback.

Sport

On 21st, SEVEN will be screening all the action from The Gabba as Australia take on Pakistan in the first cricket test of the summer series.

Don’t miss the U17 Football World Cup Final from Brazil on SBS on 18th.

ABC will be running Round 7 of the W-League as Wellington Phoenix take on Brisbane Roar Live from Westpac Stadium on the 23rd.

Crime

Murder, Lies And Alibis continues on NINE with an episode entitled, Beauty Queen Killers to be aired on the 17th.

Also, on NINE the reality series of See No Evil will follow the story of Emily Lambert as she goes missing from a bar in New Mexico, shown on 17th at 11:30pm.

TEN and GEM will continue to show the crime series Law And Order SVU, Season 17 based in New York City over the course of the week.

Reality

Trial By Kyle is back on TEN at 8:30pm on the 21st where all parties agree to abide by the courtroom decision of Kyle Sandilands.

The Embassy returns to NINE from the 17th with real life stories filmed at The Australian Embassy in Bali.

SBS have 24 Hours In Emergency and 24 Hours in Police Custody on the 18th.

Entertainment

NINE hosts the anticipated Hamish And Andy Perfect Holiday on Sunday 17th, join the boys as they set each other up for your amusement, sure to get some laughs.

The 53rd Annual Country Music Awards also on NINE will be shown on the 23rd, hosted by Dolly Parton and streamed from Nashville, Tennessee.

The Unicorn is a new American comedy sitcom on TEN from the 20th about a newly single man as he embraces life on the dating scene.

For adult audiences, TEN has Just For Laughs Australia on the 18th featuring Lehmo, Steph Tisdell, Damien Power and Tommy Little.

News / Documentary / Current Affairs

SBS’s The Wonderful World Of Chocolate has rare insight into the Bournville chocolate factory – screened on the 21st.

Ice Wars, on ABC is an Australian documentary starting in the early hours of Tuesday exploring the misery this drug causes to people and the police’s strategies to get it off our streets.

David Attenborough’s Seven Worlds, One Planet series kicks off on NINE on the 20th with his focus on Australia followed by South America the next evening at 7:30pm

Movies

Spoilt for choice this week – watch SEVEN’S “Drew Peterson: Untouchable” on the 18th starring Rob Lowe and based on a true story about a police officer’s fall from grace.

For X-Files fans, back to back movies on SBS VICELAND on the 18th.

SBS on Saturday shows  “Roman J Israel Esq” a story about a defence attorney whose life is upended when his boss and mentor dies unexpectedly. Great cast with Denzel Washington and Colin Farrell. 

Kids Movies

GO! on the 22nd has back to back favourites “D2: The Mighty Ducks” starting at 5:30pm followed by “A Bug’s Life” starring Dave Foley 

“Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – Part 1″ will be on 7MATE on the 17th

SBS VICELAND screens the hilarious “Howl’s Moving Castle” at lunchtime on Friday
